Last updated: 31 October 2026
Way2Learn Driving School ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website (way2learndrivingschool.com) or the Way2Learn mobile app, why we use it, and the choices you have. We are the data controller for this information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Information we collect
- Account and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, home address and postcode, and your password (stored only in encrypted form).
- Driving details: gearbox preference, driving experience, provisional licence number, preferred area and instructor.
- Emergency and medical information: an emergency contact name and phone number, and any medical condition you tell us about that may affect your ability to drive. We only use this for your safety during lessons and to meet legal fitness-to-drive requirements.
- Lessons and bookings: courses you buy, lesson times, instructor notes on your progress, mock test results and lesson history.
- Payments: amounts, dates and payment references. We do not store card numbers.
- Messages and reviews: enquiries you send us and any success stories or reviews you choose to share.
- Instructors: for instructor accounts we also hold availability, vehicle details, lesson records and earnings.
- Technical data: the website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Our server records basic logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security. The mobile app does not use advertising or third-party analytics and does not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and to book, schedule and deliver your driving lessons (performance of our contract with you).
- To send you booking confirmations, reminders, reschedule notices and other service emails (performance of contract).
- To record payments and keep accounting records (legal obligation).
- To keep you and our instructors safe, including medical and emergency information (legal obligation and vital interests; for medical information, your explicit consent, which you can withdraw).
- To prevent fraud and spam and to keep our systems secure (legitimate interests).
- To publish a review or success story only where you have asked us to (consent).
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- Your assigned instructor, who sees the details needed to teach you (name, contact details, pickup address, lesson history and relevant medical notes).
- Service providers who host our systems and send our emails, under contracts that require them to protect your data.
- Authorities such as the DVSA, police or HMRC where the law requires it.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Lesson, booking and payment records are kept for up to 6 years after your last lesson to meet accounting and legal requirements, then deleted. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months.
5. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: open More, tap Delete account and confirm with your password.
- On the website: sign in, go to way2learndrivingschool.com/my/security and choose Delete Account.
- By contacting us: email info@way2learn.co.uk or call 020 3488 9598.
When you delete your account your login is removed immediately and your profile is archived. Personal data we are not required to keep is then erased; lesson and payment records we must keep by law are retained only for the period in section 4. If you have upcoming lessons, please cancel them or contact us first so we can arrange any refund.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to its use, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
7. Security
Information is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, passwords are stored hashed, and access to student records is limited to staff and the instructor who teaches you.
8. Children
Our services are for learner drivers aged 16 and over (driving lessons on public roads from 17). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
